The capital – Sofia

Sofia is one of the most ancient cities in Europe. Some historians even believe that after Athens, the Bulgarian capital is the second oldest European capital. Sofia’s age is very respectable – about five thousand years. And its longevity, besides many other reasons, is due to its good geographical location. Sofia is located almost exactly in the middle of the Balkan Peninsula, at the intersection of the most important routes connecting the Middle East with Europe, as well as the Black, Aegean and Adriatic Seas. During the walking tour you will see: the most famous church of Sofia – Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, erected in memory of Russian soldiers who died in battles for the liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman yoke; The Rotunda of St. George is the most significant monument of ancient Serdica that has come down to us; The elegant Russian church of St. Nicholas with golden domes.
